Sunset Memorial Oaks was founded in 2004 with one guiding principle: to care for families like our own, with compassion, dignity, and unwavering support. Since then, we’ve been honored to serve generations of families across Del Rio, Brackettville, New Braunfels, and the surrounding communities.
Our journey began on June 29, 2004, with the opening of Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Del Rio—established as a place where families could find comfort, clarity, and guidance during life’s most difficult moments. Just months later, on October 1, we opened our second location in Brackettville, furthering our mission to serve with heart and excellence.
Soon after, we acquired Del Rio Memorial Park, renaming it Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery—the only perpetual care cemetery in the area. This allowed us to offer families not just trusted service, but also long-term peace of mind with full-care continuity, from first call to final resting place.
In 2007, we grew again, acquiring the historic Del Rio Funeral Home, formerly Humphrey’s Doran Funeral Home, honoring its legacy while continuing to serve with our personal approach. In 2023, we secured the building at 200 E. Garfield Street, ensuring we could continue serving families with consistency and care—while honoring all pre-need contracts previously held under the Del Rio Funeral Home name.
In December 2015, we expanded into the Texas Hill Country, opening Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home of New Braunfels, bringing our heartfelt care and trusted guidance to a new community.

Our mission has always been to provide complete, compassionate care—all under one trusted name. With that vision in mind, we’ve continued to grow in both service and technology:
In 2016,
we launched Sunset Memorial Oaks Monuments, bringing headstone design and production in-house. With advanced sandblasting equipment and design expertise, we create memorials that are as unique and meaningful as the lives they honor.
In 2017,
we opened Sunset Memorial Oaks Crematory at our cemetery location, allowing us to provide on-site cremation services. This ensures that your loved one never leaves our care throughout the entire process.
In 2024,
we expanded our personalization capabilities by adding advanced laser engraving technology. This innovation allows us to intricately personalize urns, caskets, and headstones with custom artwork, inscriptions, and imagery—crafted with precision and reverence.
