With profound love and sorrow, our family shares the passing of Xochitl Elizabeth Castañeda Monsivais, who went to be with the Lord on October 12, 2025, at the age of 31. Born on May 17, 1994, in Del Rio, Texas, Xochitl made her home in the Sherman–Denison area, where she built a beautiful life devoted to her family. Xochitl was the beloved daughter of Gladys Elizabeth and Pablo Cuauhtémoc Castañeda, and the cherished sister of Dennise Prange and Damian Castañeda. She was the devoted wife of Juan Gerardo Monsivais and the loving mother of Emiliano, twins Catalina and Diego, and Gladys Monsivais. A proud graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Xochitl chose to dedicate her life to nurturing and teaching her children. As a stay-at-home mother, she home schooled her kids with patience and creativity, and she poured her heart into coaching their soccer teams, cheering them on both on and off the field. Xochitl's love extended far beyond her home.

She was a joyful aunt to Alejandro, Sebastián, Emilia, Pablo, Olivia, Anasofía, Hailey, Miranda, Claudio, and Aria, a caring cousin and niece, and a loyal friend to many. Her warmth, laughter, and compassion left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her unshakable faith, and the way she made every gathering brighter with her presence and unforgettable smile. Xochitl's legacy will live on through the love she poured into her children and the countless lives she touched.

A viewing will be held in Sherman, Texas on Wednesday, October 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Waldo Funeral Home, 619 N. Travis Street, Sherman, Texas 75090

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 307 E. Losoya St, Del Rio, Texas.

The visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 2020 N. Bedell Ave, Del Rio, Texas.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 5144 Hwy 90 East, Del Rio, Texas.

Con profundo amor y tristeza, la familia comparte el fallecimiento de Xochitl Elizabeth Castañeda Monsivais, quien partió a descansar en los brazos del Señor el 12 de octubre de 2025, a la edad de 31 años. Nació el 17 de mayo de 1994 en Del Rio, Texas, y vivió en el área de Sherman–Denison, donde formó una hermosa vida dedicada por completo a su familia.

Xochitl fue la amada hija de Gladys Elizabeth y Pablo Cuauhtémoc Castañeda, y la querida hermana de Dennise Prange y Damian Castañeda. Fue la amorosa esposa de Juan Gerardo Monsivais y la devota madre de Emiliano, los gemelos Catalina y Diego, y Gladys Monsivais.

Con una licenciatura en Justicia Criminal, Xochitl decidió dedicar su vida a cuidar y educar a sus hijos. Fue una madre amorosa y dedicada, que educaba en casa (homeschool) con paciencia y creatividad, y además entrenaba los equipos de fútbol de sus hijos, siempre animándolos con entusiasmo y orgullo.

El amor de Xochitl se extendía más allá de su hogar. Fue una tía cariñosa de Alejandro, Sebastián, Emilia, Pablo, Olivia, Anasofía, Hailey, Miranda, Claudio y Aria, una prima y sobrina querida, y una amiga leal para muchos. Su alegría, risa y bondad dejaron una huella imborrable en todos los que tuvieron la dicha de conocerla.

Siempre será recordada por su profundo amor por su familia, su fe inquebrantable, y la manera en que llenaba de luz cada reunión con su presencia en inolvidable sonrisa. El legado de Xochitl vivirá para siempre en el amor que sembró en sus hijos y en todos los corazones que tocó.

El velorio en Sherman, Texas, será en Waldo Funeral Home el miércoles 22 de octubre, de 6:00 a 8:00 p.m.

Se celebrará una misa de cristiana sepultura el viernes 24 de octubre de 2025 a las 10:00 a. m. en la Iglesia Católica del Sagrado Corazón, ubicada en 307 E. Losoya St, Del Rio, Texas.

El velorio se llevará a cabo de 4:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. el viernes 24 de octubre de 2025 en la Funeraria Sunset Memorial Oaks, ubicada en 2020 N. Bedell Ave, Del Rio, Texas.

El sepelio se llevará a cabo el sábado 25 de octubre de 2025 a las 10:00 a. m. en el Cemeterio Sunset Memorial Oaks, ubicado en 5144 Hwy 90 East, Del Rio, Texas.
