A Life of Honor, Service, and Forgiveness Willie Paul Locke Jr.August 8, 1949 – February 4, 2025 With deep love and admiration, we announce the passing of Willie Paul Locke Jr., a United States Marine, devoted family man, a true blooded Texan and a pillar of strength. He passed away peacefully at home on February 4, 2025, surrounded by those he loved most. Born August 8, 1949, in Houston, Texas, to William Paul Locke and Helen Maurine Jones, he was the youngest of 6, being the only boy. He was raised with the values that defined his life: honor, resilience, and selflessness. He served two tours in Vietnam as a United States Marine, carrying the principles of honor, courage, and commitment into every aspect of his life. In his final days, when asked what mattered most, he shared these words: "Forgiveness is the most valuable thing a person can give. Life is too short for resentment—let go, forgive, and make every moment count." Paul's greatest wish was to forgive and be forgiven, ensuring he left this world at peace. His family will honor his memory by living as he did—with love, open hearts, and a commitment to lasting relationships. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Brenda Sue (Ledford) Locke; his children, Chad Sibley + (Wife: Dawn Sibley), Shannon Smith, and Patrick Smith + (Wife: Wendy Smith); his grandchildren, Ariel Smith, Trey Underwod +(Wife: Katy) and Kelsi Sibley; and his great-grandchild, Kairos Anthony Cope. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Locke, Lois Byrne, and Mary Wood. A proud Texan, Paul rarely left his home state except for military service or work. He found joy in traveling in his RV, perfecting his Bar-B-Q, and caring for animals—especially dogs, with whom he had an undeniable bond. Procession from Sunset Memorial Oaks in New Braunfels will be led by the Patriot Guard with full military honors service being held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on February 18 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Canyon Lake Animal Shelter, honoring his lifelong love for animals. Paul's legacy is one of strength, service, and love.
