Born March 5, 1947, in Watsonville, California to William Cardell & Glenna Martin Sanders. Entered into rest March 4, 2022, in an assisted living facility in Houston, Texas due to a blood clot in his lung. Bill was preceded in death by parents William Cardell (Toby) and Glenna M. Sanders, brother Robert M. Sanders, son William H. Sanders Jr., and Uncle Wilburn (Pete) Sanders. Bill is survived by his daughter Angela (Theodora), son Toby Lyn (Tina), sister Gina (Greg), Aunt Maye Gene, and five grandchildren. Bill moved from Watsonville, California to Odessa, Texas with his parents. Bill attended and graduated from Odessa High School. Bill attended Odessa Junior College. Bill was an Eagle Scout with The Boy Scouts of America. Bill received the Order of the Arrow. During the Order of the Arrow ceremony, he was given the Indian name of Polytemenic, which meant "The Unlucky One". Bill's first job in Odessa was working at Permian Tank where he fabricated oil field storage tanks. This involved a lot of expert welding, and he became a code welder. After an oilfield accident where his foot was injured, he was forced to find a new career. Bill went back to school and received his medical certification as a Registered nurse, and he was very proud of this medical certification. Bill worked as a Registered nurse at Medica Center Hospital in Odessa. Bill married his 1st wife Ann Thomas, and they had one son, William Sanders Jr. He married his 2nd wife Ruth Walker in Odessa, Texas, and they had daughter Angela Annette and son Toby Lyn. Bill has a total of five grandchildren. Later in life, Bill had a major stroke followed by several small strokes (TIA's) and a thrombosis in his legs. After these medical events, he had difficulty speaking due to the stroke, and difficulty walking due to the thrombosis in his legs. Bill then developed a variety of other medical conditions, including diabetes. He moved to an assisted living facility in Houston where he has resided for the past several years. Early years growing up: Bill and his brother Bobby enjoyed street racing in Odessa, Texas, as teenagers, and they also raced at Penwell Racetrack in Penwell, Texas. The brothers worked on muscle cars together. Bill had a 1967 GTO convertible that he was especially proud of. They both learned how to rebuild cars and car engines, and Bill learned how to paint cars. He especially loved painting candy coloring to cars he worked on. Bill enjoyed cooking and spent many hours pursuing this passion. Bill enjoyed catfishing with his parents Toby and Glenna. His parents would launch their boat at the Pecos boat ramp and head down the Rio Grande to his father's baited catfish hole nine miles downstream on Lake Amistad. For many years, Bill and his family would come down to visit his parents' home in Comstock on weekends, fish all day, and have a catfish fish fry in the evenings. In the early 1980's, Bill would bring his wife Ruth and his children Angela and Toby Lyn to Comstock on weekends to help his father (Toby) build a log house for his sister Gina on her property adjacent to his parents' house in Comstock.
