William John Hampton Devenney (76) of Del Rio, TX went home to be with the Lord on November 2, 2022. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland May 8, 1946 to William and Georgina (Hampton) Devenney and immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 8. He served with honor in the United States Airforce and was a Vietnam Veteran. He married his wife of 52 years, Barbara (Petty) Devenney July 25, 1970 and together raised their sons Timothy and Michael Devenney. "John" as he was known by friends and family worked in the heating and air conditioning industry until his retirement. He always had a willingness to lend a helping hand and smile to anyone who needed it. John was an active member of Franklin Road Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN for 38 years. He and his wife moved to Del Rio, Texas in 2013 to be close to family. They are members of Victory Baptist Church in Del Rio, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his Father William Devenney, Mother Georgina Devenney, and son Michael Devenney.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Petty) Devenney of Del Rio, Texas; brother Robert (LeeLee) Devenney of Harvey Cedars, NJ; son Timothy (Geana) Devenney of Del Rio, Texas; grandchildren Kyle (Eunice) Devenney of Knob Noster, MO; Amanda Devenney of Greenville, SC; Melissa (Austin) Devenney Byrns of Keller, TX; Ashlie Devenney of Fort Worth, TX; Connor Devenney of Houston, TX; and 5 great-grandchildren, Abigail, April and Kayden Devenney; Christian and Zoey Byrns.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Victory Baptist Church at 201 Spring st.

Interment will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 11:15 AM at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
