William "Bill" Allen, 83, passed away on December 24, 2024 in New Braunfels, Texas surrounded by his family. He was born on July 27, 1941 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from Byrd High School in 1962 and from Louisiana Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. It was there he met his future wife Lu Iman Allen and they married in 1964. Bill and Lu and their daughter Kelly moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1967 where Bill began work at Southwest Research Institute.Bill is preceded by his parents Julia Smith Allen and Bob Allen and his son William Courtney Allen. He is survived by his loving wife Lu, his daughter Kelly and his son in law Larry Johnson, his grandsons William Allen Mochel and Chet McKinley Mochel. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his love for his Harley Davidson motorcycle.He and his motorcycle buddies rode through the Texas Hill Country and Big Ben. They fondly called themselves the "Not So Wild Hogs". He also loved dove and duck hunting with his Shreveport and Texas friends. He was a founding father of The Sons of the Beach. They shared many vacations together and traveled all around the U.S. and Mexico taking their children with them. We wish to thank his memory care Doctor, Dr. Mark Burns and the wonderful people of Hope Hospice, with their help we were able to comfort him at home throughout his long journey with Alzheimer's. His family wishes in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hope Hospice or the charity of your choice.A celebration of Life will be held at Gruene United Methodist Church, January 17, 2025 at 2:00pm with Pastor Laurinda Kwiatkowski officiating. There will be a reception following the service at the church.
