Wanda Sue Stones "Sue" went to heaven and was eternally healed on October 6th, 2024. Born on October 2nd, 1947, in Freer, Texas, to Dick and Nancy Windham, Sue was the fourth of five daughters. After graduating from Freer High School, she earned her nursing degree from Del Mar College in 1968 and worked 30 years at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio before retiring. Sue's retirement was filled with service and love for God and others. She worked as a substitute school nurse, volunteered at the YMCA of the Rockies, Texas Baptist Men's Disaster Relief Team, Vacation Bible School, Awana's and her church's Wednesday night meal team. She had a special place in her heart for the children of Haiti. She supported that ministry throughout the years and went to Haiti on a mission trip. When not serving, she enjoyed traveling with her husband Ernie, sailing, sewing, refurbishing chairs, woodworking, cooking, camping, and spending time with family and friends. Sue and Ernie shared 46 wonderful years together, raising four daughters. Sue's strength, determination, and faith in the Lord were evident throughout her life, especially during her battle with cancer. She trusted God and walked with Him until her last breath. She is preceded in death by her parents; Dick and Nancy Windham, her daughter; Samantha Rahmberg, and her sisters; Ina Windham and Ann Brooks. Sue leaves behind a loving family and will be deeply missed by her husband; Ernie Stones, daughter; Becky Wolf (Wade), stepdaughters; Tina Vick (Brian) and Laura Schlichting (Paul), grandchildren; Samantha Kesselring (BK), Grace Rinard, Daniel and Julia Vick, Vera and Lila Schlichting, and Dax Rahmberg, great-grandchild; Myles Kesselring, sisters; Jeanette Holland and Dickie (Kenneth) Hicks, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Sue's legacy of love and service to God will be remembered by all who knew her. "Well done, my good and faithful servant." Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Canyon Lake on Saturday, October 12th, at 11 am.
