Chief Msgt. USAF (Ret.) Walter Jenson, age 77, entered into rest July 15, 2007 in Del Rio, Texas. He was born August 23, 1929 in a small farming community in Iowa. He served in the US Air Force, Korean War and Vietnam Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Jenson, parents Edward and Minnie Jenson. Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Wanda, Fred and Teresa, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by two sisters in Iowa and a brother in Florida, as well as his beloved companion of eight years, his terrier Pete. To his children, Walter Jenson was invincible. They believed he would always be around. But Walter Jenson wasn"�t invincible. And on Sunday, he succumbed to the Parkinson"�s Disease that he had suffered from the last six years. One of seven children he opted to see the world and - at the age of 17 "� Walter Jenson joined the Armed Forces. He soon found himself in the midst of the Korean War. He also served in the Vietnam Conflict, during which time he was stationed in Thailand. During his 27 year career in the Air Force, Jenson was twice awarded the Meritorious Service Medal "� the highest award a serviceman can receive during peacetime. He, his wife Maria and their three children lived in Germany, France, California., Kansas and Texas where he eventually retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant. Soon after moving to Del Rio in 1985, Maria died from a heart attack. Walter remained in the town he had come to love and spent every morning drinking coffee and gossiping at Wal-Mart with a group of retired men "� they called themselves �"the old-timer"�s breakfast club."� Memorial Service will be held at Thursday July 19, 2007 at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, Chapel of Remembrance at 10:00AM. Military Honors will be conducted by the US Air Force.
