Virginia Francis Webb Shahan, age 93, entered into rest June 23, 2009, at her residence in Brackettville, Texas. She was born February 15, 1916 in Del Rio, Texas. She was a long time pioneer ranching family and owner of movie set and tourist location Alamo Village. She was preceded in death by her husband James T. �"Happy"� Shahan, sister Sara Webb Higgins and her parents Elisha and Fanny Faye Adams Webb. Virginia began her life on a ranch in Edwards County and age of 11 the family moved to the ranch in Kinney County where she spent the rest of her life. A true pioneer lady who was her dad"�s �"boy"� and could round-up with the best of them. As a teenager she had a job with an ajoining rancher who would take her with him to horse sales and she would �" test"� ride them. She met her husband Happy at Baylor University and upon graduation they moved to the ranch and raised their family. Virginia was the backbone to her husband and his entrepreneur ideas. In 1957 the movie set for John Waynes �"The Alamo"� was built in the middle of the ranch and was filmed in 1959. Her life then consisted of family and running a movie set and promoting Texas Tourism. On May 9, 2009 she was still promoting Texas Tourism by unveiling the Trans Texas Pecos official brochure in Midland, Texas. If asked why she lived so long she would tell you that she lived on faith and truly believed Philippians 4:13:I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. She would also credit her pioneer spirit for the love of the land and her true passion of arrowhead hunting to get her through the rough times. The love and support she had from her family was very dear to her. Left to cherish her memory are her Children, Jamie Shahan Rains and husband Walt Rains, Tulisha Shahan Wardlaw and husband Hadley Wardlaw, James Tullis Shahan, II and wife Darlene Shahan. Grandchildren Lashawn and Rick McIvor, Leisha and Tony Ashley, Dutch and Casey Wardlaw, James and Jackie Rains, Shelley Rains, Jennifer and Seth McIntosh, Will and Dee Shahan, and Dr. Jared Ty and Candace Shahan. Great-Grandchildren, Webb and Walt Ashley, Jacob and Ryleigh Rains, Miss Hadley and Maverick McIvor, Cuatro and Cinco Wardlaw, Hayden McIntosh, Regan and Addison Shahan, and Sienna and Avery Shahan.
