Ginna was born in Odessa, Texas to Jewell and Clarence Escue on January 19th, 1956 and has two older brothers, Herman and Howard. In the summers, they went to the mountains in Colorado at Ohio City near Gunnison for thirteen years, then they ventured to Tres Ritos and Sipapu Lodge in New Mexico. Her favorite childhood memories were camping, fishing and enjoying the cool mountain air with her family. In high school she was a Member of the student council and the Historian for Odessa College before making the Dean's List at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. Ginna received a Bachelor of Science in Health Education degree in August 1978 and minored in Psychology. There is no doubt that Ginna was passionate about teaching and enhancing lives. Once she settled in Galveston, she worked at Moody State School from 1979 to 1985 with a variety of children with disabilities including those who suffered from closed head injuries and burns. Once she received her Texas Teacher Certificate in December 1984 from the University of Houston in Clear Lake, she began teaching 2nd through 4th grade. During this time, she fulfilled a second passion and became a Mom in 1990 to Kelli Ann. Ginna returned to her gift of teaching special education for many years before retiring in 2014. Kelli recalls asking her Mom how she could be so emotionally strong around her students knowing the many hardships they faced and she simply replied, "because if I'm not the best part of their day, I certainly try to be." Ginna's love for teaching continued after retirement and she taught Sunday School up until moving to New Braunfels to be closer to her daughter in 2018. Since traveling to New Mexico and Colorado with her family were treasured memories for Ginna, she brought this tradition into her own daughter's life. Kelli and Ginna did their best to keep the Summer road trips together going and they rarely missed a year. As many know, she was a collector of all things silver and turquoise and her absolute favorite places to visit were Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico. They we're even able to bring Dither along in July 2019 and Ginna constantly reminded everyone who crossed her path that it was the best trip she'd ever been on. Ginna moved out of assisted living and into her own casita next to her children in April of last year. If they weren't sitting in rocking chairs on her patio singing and watching birds at the feeder, they were most likely on a drive around New Braunfels admiring the rivers and searching for deer while singing to Eric Clapton's Pandora station. This brought her so much joy in her last years here. She never let her health struggles define her and she constantly radiated light and love to all she came across.
