Victor R. Vargas age 78, passed away on September 21, 2021, following a month-long battle with COVID-19 at the Texas Vista Medical Center in San Antonio Texas. Victor was born on March 7, 1943 in Del Rio, Texas and was a lifelong resident of the city he loved and became well known throughout as someone the community could rely on. He loved any and all community events including but not limited to school sporting events, parades, the Lions club, The San Felipe Exes Club and many more. Victor was as much of a family man as one could ever expect. But in addition to the family, friendship was almost equally important to him. Throughout his long life he made many friends and most of these friendships were lifelong and cherished dearly. Throughout Victor's life, he had many hobbies and jobs but the things he loved most besides spending time with his family were Tejano music and dancing, riding his motorcycle with Dolores, watching western movies, playing the lottery, reading the Del Rio News-Herald, and fixing up his home. But his biggest blessing was being able to watch his children and grandchildren grow and teaching them how to survive and become people that they could be proud of, just as he was proud of all of them. Victor leaves behind his loving wife Maria Dolores Vargas (Nee Verastegui), daughter Rosie Salazar, Son Victor and Mikaela Vargas Jr., daughter Velma and Pastor Ruben Herrera, son Dario Vargas, son Dino Vargas, stepson Albert, and Tanya Ramirez Jr., stepson Ernie and Brenda Ramirez and stepdaughter Magen and Jason Fields. In addition, he leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Victor left behind a legacy of love, hard work, and friendship that most men are not lucky enough to achieve. R.I.P.
