Obituary

Shawn Patrick Jones was born in San Antonio Texas on April 9th in 1977 To Kharon Lehew Jones and Ben S. Jones III. He was raised in the Dallas metroplex and attended Dallas Christian Academy. Shawn loved sports and loved going to the ranch in Brackettville for summers. He spent summers swimming at Ft. Clark, horseback riding, going to church camp and visiting with cousins, aunts and uncles at Jonesville. Shawn attended Abilene Christian University and then transferred to Pan Am University in Edinburg Texas to play soccer. He graduated with a double major while playing collegiate soccer. He loved the sport and continued to play in the US and Bolivia until a knee injury forced him to stop playing the sport he loved. After his soccer career, Shawn worked in Dallas and Houston in the restaurant industry until his mother's health deteriorated and she needed his care. He was a devoted son who put his life on hold & moved back to the Metroplex to care for his mother until her death in 2015. After the loss of his beloved Mom he began working in the building industry and even worked with his uncle in metal fabrication for several years. Once again, Shawn's giving, loving spirit meant he put his life on hold when his grandmother, Wanda, was no longer able to live alone and needed daily in-person care. He moved in with her and became her caretaker. Shawn had a big heart and put those he loved first and was always there to help when there was a need. Shawn and his grandmother had a very close relationship and her needs came first. He moved her Brackettville where she could live in the country, which she loved, and where he could oversee her care and take care of her in the home where he spent the summers of his youth. Shawn worked hard to improve her health and in times when she was not mobile he would carry her to his truck so she could get out of the house. The highlight of her day was her evening ride around the ranch and with her beloved grandson. He had a big heart and loved completely. Shawn touched hearts wherever he went and had a special talent of making each person feel loved and important to him. The ladies taking care of Wanda often told him he was the best boss and even folks working in Brackettville have told us he was so nice and was their favorite customer. His departure from this world leaves a hole in many hearts but with God's grace and love it will get easier. Those that have gone home before Shawn are his Mother Kharon and her twin sister Sharon. His maternal grandfather Jack Lehew and paternal grandparents Ben S. Jones Jr. and Bonne Laman Jones. Most recently, his aunt Holly Jones Wueste. Shawn is survived by his grandmother Wanda Lehew of Brackettville. Father, Ben Jones III and wife Roxanne of Colleyville, Step-brother Travis Allen of Santo, Step-sister Tiffany Rodriguez of Watauga and her children Dakota, Cheyenne and Raimee and their families. His uncle Ernie Wueste, of Eagle Pass, Uncle John and wife Melanie of Brackettville, Uncle Buster(Jerry) Lehew and wife Judy and Uncle Kim Lehew both from Fort Worth and Uncle Stephen Lehew of New York. Shawn is also survived by numerous great aunts and uncles and many, many cousins who loved him greatly. Shawn's greatest gift was making all of us feel important to him and loved. There are not enough words to express how much he will be missed. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Brackettville Sunset Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the Church of Christ on 808 N. Ann St. in Brackettville, TX. Interment will follow at the Jones Family Ranch.
