Sharon Lynn (née Culver) Cosby of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away on April 22, 2024, due to heart disease. She was born June 6, 1943 in Houston, Texas to Virgil Roy Culver and Mozelle Marche (née Sargent) Culver. Sharon graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston in 1961. She attended TCU in Fort Worth for a year and then transferred to the University of Houston. She left college in her sophomore year to marry the handsome Texas A&M student, Jim Cosby, whom she met on a blind date. She and Jim were married for 61 years, moving around the country wherever Jim's naval career took them. Sharon was a devoted mother to their two children, daughter Cindy and son Clay, and a loving grandmother to her two grandchildren. Sharon and Jim retired first to Florida but eventually returned to Texas to settle in New Braunfels. During Jim's Navy career, she was active in the Officers' Wives Clubs. She was an excellent seamstress, making beautiful clothes for herself and Cindy for many years, and despite only sharing her custom cake creations with friends and family, her exceptional cake-making skills were of professional quality. After retirement, she and Jim loved to go on cruises, where she was the most elegantly dressed passenger. Sharon was also an avid cook, collecting recipes and trying new dishes. She could never pass up an enchilada topped with well-made ancho chile sauce. She will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery with her husband at a later date. Sharon is survived by her daughter Cynthia Appleby (Reid) of Wells, ME; son Clayton Cosby (Christine) of Wicomico Church, VA; grandchildren Lindsay Appleby Janco (Alex) of Woburn, MA, and Reid Appleby IV (Tatiana McIntyre) of Durham, NC; sister Carol Black of Austin, TX, three nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James Cosby, and her sister, Janet Cabler.
