Santiago �"Juan"� Montanez, age 86 passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at his residence in New Braunfels, Texas. He was born March 8, 1928 in New Braunfels to Ramon Montanez and Maria Bustamante Montanez. Mr. Montanez retired from Mission Valley Mills after 41 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Rubin Montanez, brothers Jesus, Josefredo and Manuel Montanez, sisters Estefana Molina, Virginia Castillo, Soila Meza and Refugia Montanez. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Rita M. Montanez; sons Eliberto Medina and his wife Arcelia, Alfredo Montanez and his wife Rose Mary, Juan Montanez and his wife Betty, Rubuen Montanez and his wife Louisa and Joel Montanez; daughters Maria Isabel Quintanilla and her husband Frank, Maria Magdalena Romero and her husband Vicente; Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 beginning at 10:45 AM at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church followed by a rosary at 11:30 AM and a funeral mass at 12 noon with Rev. Anthony Pesek as celebrant. Services will conclude after the mass. Serving as pallbearers will be Raymond Montanez, Jason Quintanilla, Jacob Montanez, Rodney Montanez, Eliberto Median, Jr. and Sergio Montanez; Honorary pallbearers are Henry and Hector Montanez.
