Obituary

Ruperto Ocura Perez Sr. was born to Isabel and Santiaga Perez on January 9th, 1948 he passed on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024 at the age of 76. He was raised in Sanderson, Texas, where he met his High School Sweetheart, Elia Garcia, they married on June 2nd, 1968. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Irma Rodriguez and Josefina Martinez.
He is survived by his wife Elia, his sons Ruperto Perez Jr. and his wife Maria Perez, Homero Perez and his wife Jessica Perez, his grandkids Dustin Perez, Adriana Duarte, Middian Perez, and Ian Perez, and his siblings Miguel Perez and Minerva Martinez.

Ruperto entered the United States Marine Corp on October 11th, 1966 and served in the Vietnam War until March 1st, 1969. He received three Purple Heart awards during his time in the USMC. After his discharge from the service, he settled with his family in Sanderson, Tx and worked at TxDoT for 27 years before retiring. He enjoyed playing solitaire on his iPad, sitting outside, enjoying nature, and cooking for his family. He was dedicated to his family, country, and Saint Jude.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 10:30 AM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
