With deep love and countless memories that will continue to make us smile, we say goodbye to Ruben De Alba Sr., lovingly known as "Chito," who passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, at the age of 90, in his home in Boerne, Texas.

Ruben was born in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico, to Jose Jesus de Alba Gonzalez and Maria Elisa Gonzalez Lozano. He was the second of six siblings—Alfredo, Ruben, Julio, Graciela, Carlos, and Martha—and was preceded in death by Alfredo, Julio, Carlos, and Martha.

From an early age, Ruben carried strong values of hard work, family, and steadfast determination - especially when it came to doing things his way.

He worked for many years as a mechanic, a profession that reflected both his skill and his love for cars. According to him, he was a semi-pro soccer player, a luchador, and a racecar driver—stories he proudly shared with his grandchildren, leaving them to wonder just how much truth was in those stories.

Chito was a man of strong character and undeniable stubbornness. Even his neighbors knew him well for his… enthusiastic driving.

Every morning began the same way: with a cup of coffee loaded with plenty of creamer—because to him, coffee without creamer simply wasn't coffee. If you greeted him, he always responded with "Hola Carola!" And if you asked how he was doing, he never missed a beat and responded with "Very well, papas con betabel," followed by his own deep, contagious laughter.

His love story with his wife, Lucila, began simply but beautifully—he walked into the store where she worked and was immediately captivated by her eyes. That moment began a 49-year marriage built on love, faith, and devotion.

Ruben was a man of faith and service. While living in El Paso, Texas, he was an active member of Corpus Christi Parish, where he faithfully served as an usher for many years, always greeting others with warmth and humility.

He enjoyed sports—especially soccer—and was a devoted fan of Chivas de Guadalajara. He also loved bowling and spending time with family. And in his world, ice cream had no schedule—it could be dessert… or dinner.

Ruben is survived by his beloved wife, Lucila De Alba; his children, Laura, Patricia, Armando, and Ruben De Alba Jr.; his sister, Graciela; his grandchildren, Gerardo, Laura, Brenda, Caleb, and Elias; and his great-grandchildren, Lucas and Emma.

He will be remembered for his laughter, his strong will, his deep love for family, and the little sayings and habits that made him unforgettable. His presence leaves a tremendous void, but also a legacy of love that will live on for generations.
