Rodney Willard White Rodney Willard White was born in Denton, Texas, on September 23, 1943, to Robert M. White and Edith J. Teasley. He arrived minutes after twin brother Richard, a fact that Richard held over him for their entire lives. Shortly after their births, the family, including older brother Robert, moved to Chicago until Rodney's parents divorced when he was seven, and Edith returned to Texas with all three boys. Rodney grew up on his grandparents' farm in Denton, where they helped form his character and taught him to love the Lord and the value of hard work. They also taught him charity for others, as they owned a grocery store in town. He shared how his grandfather, Alex "Harry" Teasley, often gifted struggling people food and necessities. Rodney was a talented athlete who graduated from Denton High School in 1962. He played on both the varsity football and baseball teams and made the regional all-star team for baseball. Following high school, he attended the University of North Texas, earning a BA in Mathematics with a minor in Architecture. He joined Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity, and while at a fraternity party, he met the love of his life, Connie Lou Burrows. They married on July 22, 1966, and sons Christopher and Shawn followed in 1968 and 1969. The young family settled in Arlington, Texas, joining Turning Point church in Ft. Worth, where they were active members for many years. During this time, Rodney joined the national company Reynolds and Reynolds. He had a successful career with them, rising to executive Vice President. He retired in 2000 after 23 years with the company, the final four working in the San Francisco area of California. After retirement, he and Connie returned to Arlington, TX, to be closer to her aging parents and their sons and grandchildren. Rodney enjoyed many things in his life: evening dog walks with Connie (they had five miniature schnauzers and a toy Manchester terrier during their 58-year marriage), playing golf, coaching his son's football and baseball teams (he was incredibly proud of taking Shawn's baseball team to the city play-offs), cheering on his grandchildren during soccer matches, basketball games, golf tournaments, and school plays, reading great novels and history books, as well as reading scripture in the mornings. His passion was his faith and sharing it with others. When Parkinson's disease took hold, he and Connie moved to Garden Ridge, TX, in July 2020 to be closer to his son Christopher's family. He went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and family at home. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert M. and Edith, and his brothers, Robert and Richard. He is survived by his wife, Connie, sons Christopher and Shawn, daughters-in-law Paige and Alison, and grandchildren Ashlyn, Ethan, Dylan, Braeden, Logan and Riley. As well as Sophie, his beloved dog. Rodney will be laid to rest with a graveside service on Monday, April 7th at noon at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266. On May 17th, a celebration of life service will be held in Arlington, Texas, with a location to be determined. Instead of flowers, the family requests a donation to the National Right to Life or Samaritan's Purse.
