Roberto Broughton Barrera passed away November 22, 2021, at his home in Del Rio, Texas. He was born on December 20, 1928, in Port Isabel, Texas, but he was a long-time resident of Del Rio. He loved spending time with his family. He served in the USMC from 1942 to 1952 and made lifelong friendships with his fellow Marines. He is preceded in death by his first wife Angelica Gonzales Barrera, his parents Rafael and Margarita Broughton Barrera, his brothers Rafael Barrera, Jr., William Barrera (Enriqueta), Ramiro Barrera (Adela), Jose D. Barrera, Ruben B. Barrera, and Gustavo Barrera and his brother-in-law Thomas Davis. He is survived by his second wife Nicolasa Moreno Barrera, his children Roberto Barrera, Jr. (Carmen), Orlando Barrera (Norma), Reynaldo Barrera (Augustina), Delma Barrera Scott, and Delina Barrera; his bonus children, Rafael Moreno (Arcelia), Rosamaria Moreno (Jan), his two loving sisters Ernestina Barrera and Margarita Barrera Davis; his sister-in-laws Lucilla Barrera, Maggie Barrera, and Ruth Barrera with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at 3:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
