Ricardo Ruiz, age 80, entered into rest on Saturday, April 6, 2024, in Del Rio, Texas. He was born on May 29, 1943, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents Santiago Ruiz and Estefana Ruiz Moreno; his brother Juan Ruiz; sisters Manuela Ruiz, Lupe Ruiz, and Tacha Ruiz.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Olga Ruiz; his son Jose M. Ruiz (Alejandra & Miguel) and his daughter Sofia L. Reyes (LC); grandchildren Nathaliah Ruiz, Alonzo Ruiz, Mireyah Reyes, and Gabriel Ruiz; his brothers Marcos Ruiz, Pedro Ruiz, and Santiago Ruiz, and his sister Gloria Ruiz.
Ricardo started pursuing his music career at the age of 17. His love and passion for music landed him with his first group named "Los Arabes" from Cuidad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico. Ricardo had many musical talents. He had a strong, beautiful voice as a singer, and played many instruments, such as the lee, bass, acoustic, guitar, and the drums. He also played with several groups in Del Rio, such as Starlite Cowboys, Bullet and the High Calibers, Conjunto Del Rio, Tony Faz and the Texas Encounter, Los Luceros Del Bravo, and Bruno Lozano and the Outlaws.
Ricardo mastered a second talent as well, which was being a mechanic for over 30 years, starting at Isenhour and retiring at Brown Automotive in December 2013.
Ricardo was a loving, humble, selfless, caring, talented, and humorous individual. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Jose M. Ruiz, LC Goodwin Reyes, Alonzo Ruiz, Roger Dixon, Mario Partida, James Riddle, and Javier Partida
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 3:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
