Ray Gutierrez, age 68, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026.

Born in New Braunfels, Texas, on July 18, 1957, Ray was a compassionate and kind-hearted man who was always willing to help those in need. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and treasured the moments he shared with family and friends.

Ray will be remembered for his generous spirit, caring nature, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness. One of his greatest pleasures was playing chess with his brother, Efrain.

He is survived by his children, Johnny Joe Salazar Sr and Cristina Gutierrez; his 14 grandchildren; and his five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Concepcion Mata, Marcelino Mata Jr., Efrain Gutierrez, and Richard Gutierrez, as well as his sister, Cruzita Mata. He was preceded in death by his son, Ray Gutierrez Jr.; his daughter, Angela Gutierrez; his parents, Luis Gutierrez and Cruz Garcia; and his brothers, Eddie Gutierrez, Juan Mata and his sister Nila Rintatalo.

Mr. Gutierrez' services will be held at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on June 18, 2026 with a viewing from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and a funeral service from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
