Obituary

Ralph John Sinclair, Jr., aged 87, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, in Del Rio, Texas, with his loving wife, Lucy Sinclair, by his side.

Born on November 27, 1937, in Del Rio, Texas, Ralph was the beloved son of Ralph Sinclair and Charlene Francis Nye Sinclair. He spent his childhood creating cherished memories in the family home on North Main Street, playing baseball at Star Park alongside his brother, Bill, and his sister, Charlene. Ralph enjoyed baseball and basketball while attending local schools and working in the family grocery store.

Following his graduation, Ralph began a lifetime of service by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1956, where he served as an Infantry Weapons Armorer. After his honorable discharge, he furthered his education at the University of Houston.

Ralph married Donna Mae Phillips on April 8, 1962, and together they shared 50 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2012. They were blessed with three children: Dean, Tracye and Clay. Later in life, Ralph found love and companionship again with Lucila "Lucy" Cortinas, whose family welcomed him with open arms and became an invaluable source of care and support.

Ralph dedicated his career to public service, beginning as a Del Rio Police Officer in 1960. In 1971, he joined the United States Border Patrol, where he served with distinction after completing training at the academy. He later transitioned to the United States Customs Service, serving at the Del Rio Port of Entry as a Customs Inspector and rising through the ranks to become Port Director. He retired in 2004 after decades of honorable service.

Ralph's life was characterized by humility, integrity, and devotion to his family and faith. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Sinclair; his brother William "Bill" Sinclair and his children and their spouses: Dean (Kathy), Tracye, and Clay (Tammi); six grandchildren: Dean Jr., Stacy, Brittany, Clay Jr., Brett, and Ashlie; and seven great-grandchildren: Ella, Eva, Colton, Nicholas, Colten, Abigail, and Ellie.

Ralph wanted everyone to know that he is at peace and at home with God our Father and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A man of great humility, he sought simplicity in both life and death. At his request, a small memorial service for family and friends will be held at the Central Church of Christ, 402 Cantu Road on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM.

Ralph's legacy of service, love, and kindness lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.
