Ralph William Carr, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at La Vida Serena Nursing Home in Del Rio, Texas.

He was born November 15, 1937, in Easton, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Carr and Margaret Livina Minchin Carr; and his daughters Cynthia Ann and Jo Ann Puente.

Ralph was an Air Force veteran having served from February 1955 until his honorable discharge in September 1967 having earned numerous awards including the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship award. During his Air Force service Ralph was stationed in Del Rio, TX, Bitburg AFB, Germany and Hill AFB Utah. Ralph also served with the Southern Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad for over 30 years, from 1971 until his retirement on December 31, 2002.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Maria Esther Carr; his children Betty J. Fuentes (Roman), Peggy J. Duran (Robert), of Del Rio, TX, Richard W. Carr (Claudia) of Uvalde, TX, Ronald W. Carr of Hondo, TX, and Jason S. Carr (Michelle) of Chaparral, NM, and his sister Betty L. Corp (†Stewart).

Ralph is also survived by his grandchildren, Blanca M. Fuentes, Monika K. Fuentes, Timothy L. Duran, Jasmine D. Duran, Rebekah J. Blankenship, Stephen Nevarez, Mikele Nevarez, Keanna D. Carr Deaton, Kyle Ray, Asia Williams, Robert Bruce, and the light of his life, Cynthia Ann Puente, who he raised from the day she was born. Ralph is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.

Ralph will be fondly missed by his family, many friends, and all his neighbors who became family to him over the years. John Atnipp and Sean P. McGillicuddy were always there to lend a hand around the house and for any family emergency of which there were many in recent years. Johnny Maldonado, his lifelong friend, spent many hours of comfort with him in the weeks before his passing. Their love and support were immeasurable.

The Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.

The interment will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas, with Full Military Honors rendered by the United States Air Force.
