Rafael Garcia Arevalo, Jr., a devoted father, cherished friend, and unwavering pillar of love and dedication, passed away peacefully at his home on April 25, 2026, at 9:15 PM. He left this world in a relaxed and gentle state, surrounded by the comfort of the place he loved most. His life was defined by his deep affection for his family and the joy he found in the simple, meaningful moments he shared with them.

Rafael's passions were a reflection of his generous spirit. He cultivated beauty through his gardening, expressed creativity through painting, filled his home with melody through his deep love of music, and brought people together through his cooking and grilling. Whether tending to his plants, losing himself in a favorite song, or preparing a meal for family and friends, he poured his heart into everything he did.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Guadalupe T. Garcia, who passed on August 29, 2010, and his daughter, Maria de Lourdes Whittington, who passed on May 22, 2017. Their memories remained a constant source of strength and inspiration to him.

Rafael is survived by his four sons—Mario Alberto Garcia, Jessie Ralph Garcia, Rogelio Enrique Garcia, and Miguel Angel Garcia—along with their families, all of whom he loved deeply and proudly. His legacy lives on in them, in the values he instilled, and in the countless moments of laughter, guidance, and love he shared.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM; chapel service at 6:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 2020 N. Bedell Ave, Del Rio, Texas. Funeral services conclude after the visitation.

Rafael will be laid to rest at a later date at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 5144 E. Hwy 90, Del Rio, TX 78840.
