Obituary

Phyllis Hughes, 91, of New Braunfels passed away August 11, 2024. Phyllis was a source of love, compassion, and strength to her family and those who had the privilege of knowing her. Born in Toledo, Ohio on September 15, 1932, she resided in Ohio, Michigan, and Tennessee before moving to Houston, Texas where she lived for nearly 45 years, finally moving to Central Texas in 2020. An avid reader of mysteries, a crossword-puzzler and Scrabble player, Phyllis worked as a legal secretary until retiring in 1995. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Kelli, her sister, Carol, and by Larry, her husband of 65 years with whom she journeyed to all fifty states and countless worldwide destinations. Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but her legacy will live on through the lives she touched. She is survived by her sons, Kevin, Doug, and David, daughter-in-law Lori, grandchildren Kymberli, Scott, Ashley (Ray), Rebecca, and John, and a great-granddaughter on the way, Amelia. There will be a memorial gathering for family and close friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those wishing to express sympathy to consider honoring Phyllis with a donation to their favorite charity.
