Peggy Amonette, 81, a long time resident of San Angelo, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025 in Sugarland, TX.

She was born on November 16, 1944 in Midland, TX. Her father was in the air force, so they lived in many different places, finally moving to Iraan, TX. There, she met and married her husband, Curtis. The family eventually settled in San Angelo, TX.

In her childhood, she participated in fishing and other outdoor activities with her family. Later, she enjoyed raising her kids, cooking, sewing, quilting, and gardening. After her kids were grown, she had fun being a grandmother and taking part in civic activities.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Amonette; her parents, Louis and Jeneva Bryant; and by her daughter-in-law, Cherry Amonette.

Survivors include a daughter Barbara Thorson and husband Phil; a son, John Amonette; a brother, Louis Bryant, Jr. and wife Sharon; three granddaughters; and four great grandsons.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM in Del Rio, TX on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 2020 N. Bedell Ave.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 1:30 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 5144 Hwy 90 East, Del Rio, Texas.

Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.
