Pedro "Pete" Cárdenas Jr. passed away peacefully on the morning of November 7th, 2017, in San Antonio surrounded by his loving family. Pete was an educator and coach for over 30 years, and also served as president of the school board. He was an entrepreneur, and was successful with many businesses in his life. He lived in Del Rio all his life and always gave back to the community he loved so dearly. He was a loving father, husband, son and brother, and a man of faith, integrity and kindness. He was an instant friend to anyone he met, meeting all with a smile and an open hand. His words were always so encouraging to all who met him. He will be missed deeply by all of us, both family and friends. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 36 years Maria Leticia Cardenas; sons Pete Cardenas III, Ramon D. Cardenas (Rachel Blaschke); daughter Alyssa Pena (Michael); parents Pedro E. Cardenas, Sr. and Hortencia Guadalajara Cardenas; brothers Javier Cardenas (Cindy), Martin Cardenas (Silvia); sister Rosalinda Diaz (Raul); mother-in-law Oralia M. Diaz; brother-in-law Arturo Diaz (Cecilia); nephews Raul Diaz, (Cindy) Jr., Martin (Amie) Cardenas, Jason Cardenas and niece Sabrina (Basilio, Jr.) Gutierrez. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at Living Stone Worship Center located at 190 Western Drive. Pastor Martin Seca will be officiating. Gentlemen with the Honor of Pallbearers are Jason Cardenas, Martin Cardenas, Raul Diaz, Jr., Basilio Gutierrez, Jr., Michael Pena and Aldo Calvetti. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
