Oct 29, 1938 — Sep 19, 2025
In Loving Memory of Patricia Ann (Vaughn) Matheny, 86
October 29, 1938 – September 19, 2025
Patricia Ann Matheny went home to the Lord on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born October 29, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas and was raised by loving parents, Hazel and Clinton Jacobs.
On July 13, 1957, Patricia married the love of her life, Herbert J. Matheny. Together they shared a beautiful 60 years of marriage, a partnership marked by steady devotion, quiet humor, and everyday kindness. A loving mother, daughter, and wife, Patricia poured herself into caring for those she loved—especially her husband, children, and parents.
Gifted with a wonderful eye for fashion and home design, Patricia made every space welcoming and every occasion feel special. She loved dogs and found joy in travel. For many years, she was a faithful member of First Baptist Church New Braunfels, where she worshiped, served, and built lifelong friendships.
Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert J. Matheny, and her son, Jeffery Alan Matheny. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Buchanan; half-brother, Fred Bendall; granddaughter, Jackie; and great-grandson, Remi.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in New Braunfels. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m. with a celebration of Patricia's life at 12:00 p.m. (noon). Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at 2:00 p.m., where she will be reunited with her beloved Herbert.
The family is grateful for every prayer, message, and memory shared. Your presence, love, and stories are the greatest comfort.
