Patricia (Pat) was born in Lexington, Kentucky on February 18, 1942, the youngest of two children to Paul and Irene Allen. Raised in a single parent home (and called Trixie by her mother), Pat was drawn to the Lord at an early age, remaining a faithful disciple of Jesus the remainder of her days. In high school, she was a member of Beta Club, the National Honor Society, received an American Legion Auxiliary Medal, and was a part of Spanish Club, Dance Committee, Cheer Team, Yearbook Staff, and even sang in a girls' quartet! Graduating in 1959 from Henry Clay High School, Pat earned a degree in French, (to include two years of Spanish and one year of Russian Language Studies) from the University of Kentucky—a polyglot and a Wildcat to boot! During this time she would meet her future husband, Herb Borleis, who was attending nearby Transylvania college as well as the same church, Broadway Christian Church (Lexington) where they would marry on March 28, 1964. Herb and Pat adopted their daughter Robyn in 1967, and would go on to have two sons of their own: Bill in 1968 and David in 1969—whom she devoted her life to as a homemaker and mom. While her husband worked his way through the ranks in pharmaceuticals, Pat faithfully followed, and they would spend years in New Jersey, Tennessee, Virginia, upstate New York, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. When their nest was empty, the Lord led them to West Palm Beach, Florida, and a new season where Herb served at the home base of South America Mission, while Pat served as an Executive Assistant at the Palm Beach Health Care District, her excellent organizational skills earning her high praise. After the threat of a third hurricane, a move inland (and back) to Tennessee came next where they would settle down for another ten years. The arrival of three grandchildren Matthew and Hannah (Robyn) and Andrew (Bill) came in these years. In March of 2014, they packed up and headed south to San Antonio, Texas to live near their daughter, Robyn. Days after arriving, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the Lone Star State. This golden milestone happened right as the Texas Blue Bonnets bloomed in full! Just weeks after this wonderful celebration, Herb and Pat started enjoying another new season--great-grandparenthood! Isaiah and Ezra arrived in short order and a few years after Herb passed away, Ansel and Peter joined the crew. Pat, lovingly known as Grammy, loved and embraced her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with true joy. She made each one feel loved and cherished. Through all their years together, Herb, with Pat faithfully at his side, they loved the Lord and their neighbors. Wherever the Lord led, they sought out church membership and served where they were planted. With the heart of a servant, Pat was an exemplary hostess, serving with joy, always immersing herself in personal and group Bible studies and Women's ministry.
