PV2 Oscar Sauceda, age 21, entered into rest May 22, 2007, in Baghdad, Iraq. He was born September 18, 1985 in San Jose, California. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar �"Lefty"� Sauceda. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Ricky and Sandra Hernandez; sisters, Dae Lamor Sauceda and Precious Leann Sauceda; brother, Ricky Hernandez Jr.; brother -in-law, Pedro Velasquez Jr.; nephew, Pedro Velasquez III.; nieces, Alexys Amirah Dehoyos, Audrey Lenah Dehoyos, America Amor Dehoyos, Kassandra Denee Velásquez and Kayla Renee Velasquez; maternal grandparents, Bernardo and Lidia Delgado; paternal grandparents, Florencio and Dolores Sauceda; numerous aunts and uncles. Oscar was lovingly known as �"JR"� to family and friends. JR was very active in community sports as early as the age of four when he began playing soccer and was very active in baseball, football, basketball, and boxing. His favorite sport, however, was football. JR would spend quiet times horseback riding and spending many hours hunting South Texas white tail deer, turkey and fishing with his uncles Paul and Ben Delgado. Oscar was active at St. Joseph Catholic Church where he began as an Altar Server at the age of nine and continued on to the youth ministry as a lector, usher and Eucharistic Minister. JR also loved the times he spent at Living Stone Worship Center, where he was active in the youth ministry and choir. JR was an exemplary role model to the younger generation who had the opportunity to have known him; always wanting to do the right thing in their eyes. Oscar was proud to serve his country. When he joined the army he was excited to begin his new career and as the only way he knew how, to give his all and strive to be the best that he could be. His determination and endurance are to be admired by all. You"�ll most remember Oscar by the killer smile and great big hugs he had ready for all his loved family and friends. We will keep you alive in our hearts. Your spirit will keep us smiling. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2007 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Del Rio Civic Center, Pecan Ball Room 1915 Veterans Blvd. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2007 10:00 AM St. Joseph Catholic Church 510 Wernett St.. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
