Beloved husband and father Norman Henry Butler, 92, went home to the Lord on May 27, 2022, under hospice care at his home with Barbara his wife of 56 years by his side. He was born on November 23, 1929, to the late Coit Elisha and Lela Mae Butler in Dallas, Texas.
He is survived by wife Barbara and 4 children with first wife Doris Jones, daughters Deborah and husband Bob Lee, Becky Bennett, sons Bruce and wife Pam, and Brad and wife Cindy. Brothers Ed and wife Mary and Artie and wife Lucille, sisters Linda Majors Newton and Brenda and husband Lynn Jackson. Sisters-in-law Sharon Richardson and Kathy and husband Jimmy Garner, along with 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by grandparents and parents, 2 brothers CE Jr. and wife Kelly Butler and Bob Butler and 1 sister Mary Beth and husband Vinters Walker, 1 brother-in-law Danny Majors, and 1 son-in-law John Bennett, 1 grandson Taylor, and 1 great-granddaughter Maddie Grace.
He grew up in Westbrook, TX and always considered it home. Mr. Butler honorably served his country by serving in the United States Air Force. He was retired for 31 years, and he and Barbara enjoyed traveling in their RV, golfing, camping and seeing more of this great nation while also visiting family. He was a Child of God, and always loved his family, the outdoors, wildlife and a bevy of dogs and cats.
A service to celebrate his life will be held June 2, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Myers & Smith Funeral Home at 301 E. 24th St., in Big Spring, TX. Ph. (432) 267-8288. With visitation June 1 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Frontier Baptist Church in Brackettville, TX, or to Superior Hospice in Del Rio, TX.
