Obituary

******************** As per family request, everyone MUST wear a mask upon entering chapel.*************** Moisés "Cinco" Calderón, Jr., so loved by many, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021, at the age of 44 in Del Rio, Texas. Cinco was born the fifth child on the fifth day of the fifth month, in 1977 in Del Rio, Texas, to Dalinda E. "Dolly" Calderón and Moisés "Blondie" Calderón. Although not completely blond like his father, Cinco was the only child born with a lock of blond hair, which made him unique. He attended Del Rio High School and was part of the Class of 1995. Cinco was a gifted, talented, and passionate musician, a loving son and brother, a devoted friend, a fantastic dancer, the life of the party, and the biggest Pittsburgh Steelers fan on the planet! He worked in the family business, Memo's Restaurant, where he continued to play and sing with his band, Cinco's Combo. At a very early age, Cinco was taught by his father to play many different instruments, including the piano, drums, congas, timbales, and his favorite, the vibes. He would also sit in with various bands across the state of Texas, showcasing his talent. He loved playing music and mentoring the younger generation of musicians. He enthusiastically believed that "the music had to go on" even after he left this earth. He had a big generous heart and a contagious smile, and always enjoyed life to the fullest with his family and friends. Cinco was preceded in death by his father, Moisés "Blondie" Calderón, his grandparents, Memo and None Calderón, and Joe F. and Elida G. Martinez, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his mother, Dolly, whom he loved with all his heart, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jana (Miguel Gutiérrez), Jacque (Rick Keith), Moisann (Mitch Lee), Patricia (Christopher Franco), nephews, James Holt, Jonathan and William Keith, Angel Gutiérrez, Mitchell and Aaron Lee, Justice Franco, and his only niece Moisann Lee, his aunt, Jo Elda Perez, his uncles and aunts, Ferdy and Irma Calderón, Bob and Nancy Gray, and Linda Calderón, numerous cousins, extended family and friends, his lifelong friends, René Sorola and Bonnie Rocha, his band members, and his two Labradors, Mambo and Cha Cha, and his Shepherd, Rumba. In his lifetime, Cinco touched so many lives with his music, his grand personality, his quick wit, and his ability to make everyone laugh. He could brighten a room like few others could. To accommodate his many friends and loved ones, the family will hold a viewing to honor Cinco's life on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home from 3:00pm to 7:00pm and on Saturday from 8:30am to 9:30am. Mass will be celebrated beginning at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
