Mercedes Guadalupe Vara (Meche), 65 , passed away on February 28, 2021 with his family by his side at Resolute Health Hospital in New Braunfels, Texas. He was born on June 17, 1955. He dedicated 35 years of his hard work at SAS San Antonio Shoe Factory to provide for his wife and children. Preceding him in death are his parents, María de Jesús Castillo, Merced Vara; sisters, María de la Cruz, Eleticia Vara; daughter, Adriana Vara; grandson, Guillermo Vara. Family members left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, 44years of marriage, María Guillermina Vara; son, Guillermo G. Vara; daughter, Yvette Vara and husband Bruce Vega; seven grandchildren, Jesus A. Vara, Zuleyka Y. Vara, Brian A. Ortiz, Emmah R. Romero, Daniel Cortez Jr, Axsel Vega, Ariel Vega; two great-grandchildren, Jayden B. Vazquez, Rose Y. Vazquez; brother, Juan Manuel Vara; sisters, Martha McQuillen, Sarahí Vara; Mercedes is also survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, and uncles. He was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will deeply be missed by many. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021, at 3:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
