Melinda Kay Long Cervantez, age 73, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 in Del Rio, Texas. She was born on August 2, 1952 in Mirando City, Texas

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleburne Franklin Long and Marie Dannelley Long.

She is survived by her loving husband, Pedro Ruiz Cervantez; her son, Pete Randall Cervantez, and daughter-in-law, Leyla Diaz Cervantez; her grandson, Pete Anthony Cervantez; her brother, John William Long, and his wife, Julie Buhidar-Long; her aunts, Sue and Beulah; her stepson, Pedro Ruiz Cervantez Jr.; her stepdaughter, Nelda Cervantez Mata; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and daughter who loved to cook, decorate and play cards. She was always there for her family and friends and full of joy, laughter and a smile. She will be greatly missed by everyone.

The visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM  at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 2020 N. Bedell Ave, Del Rio, Texas.

Services will conclude after the visitation.
