Mauro Padilla, Jr., age 89, entered into rest on Monday, April 29, 2019 in Del Rio, Texas. He was born on October 28, 1929, in Del Rio. In life, Mauro Padilla, Jr. was carpenter and a cabinet maker. He helped build many homes and buildings in California and Texas. At heart Mauro was an adventurer as he loved to travel. He enjoyed meeting new people and listening to their life stories. Along the highways he would stop and help stranded motorist and not expect anything in return. If anyone needed help, you could count on him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mauro Padilla, Sr. and Juanita Riojas Padilla; his siblings, Jose and Salvador Padilla, Rosario Padilla Bastardo and Juanita Padilla DeClue; and a granddaughter, Angela Banda.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Trevino Padilla; his siblings, Raul Padilla, Marta Padilla Sandoval, and Eva Padilla Moore; his children, Mauro Padilla III and wife Rosario, Raymundo Padilla and wife Wendy, Herlinda Isabel Padilla Fernandez and husband Jesse, Santa Padilla Banda and husband Eli; his grandchildren, Joe and Carlos Padilla, Adrian and Sergio Padilla, Jesse III and Fernando Fernandez, Liza and Matthew Banda; and by his great-grandchildren, John Paul and Adam Padilla, Jesse IV, Ana Karina, Sofia Isabela Fernandez, Maximiliano Fernandez, Christian Padilla, and Elias and Brayden Banda.
Visitation will take place Thursday, May 2, 2019, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, May 3, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery.
Gentlemen with the honor of serving as pallbearers are: Jesse Fernandez IV, Matthew Banda, Adrian Padilla, Jesse Fernandez III, Fernando Fernandez, Sergio Padilla, Antonio Rodriguez, and Eduardo Trevino. Honorary pallbearer is Joe Diego and Jesus Gutierrez.
