Mary Armentia Read Thompson, age 96, entered into rest on October 20, 2014 in Del Rio, Texas. She was born on March 14, 1918 in Paint Rock, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband Buck Thompson. Parents, William and Beulah Read, her son, and all 9 siblings. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Rexie Perry and Marjorie Mellott. 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mary lived a Christian life and taught her children to love the Lord and serve Him. She attended Paint Rock School and was a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She graduated from Nursing School in Sweetwater, Texas and her last employer was Del Rio Nursing Home. She attended the First United Methodist Church for over two decades and prior to that attended The First Baptist Church and North Side Baptist churches. She was baptized at the early age of 7 and served the Lord all her life. She was loved by many and will leave an empty place in those hearts. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Saturday, October 25, 2014, 9:00am-10:00am as well. Graveside Service will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014, 1:30 PM, Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family would like donations be made to your favorite charity.
