Mary Ann Cymbalak Shepherd, a cherished matriarch and a true force of nature, peacefully passed away at her home on December 8, 2025, at the age of 79, surrounded by the love of her family.

Mary lived a life defined by fearless independence and a spirit that was both wild and brave. She possessed a legendary, generous heart, which she opened—along with her home—to all who needed it. Her boundless compassion extended to welcoming over 100 foster children into her care. Mary's profound impact was evident in the universal title she earned: to everyone who met her, she was "Grandma."

Mary Ann was born on September 12, 1946 in Swickley, Pennsylvania and raised in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. She became an Air Force military wife who lived at military stations across the United States as well as in Germany. Once she came back to the states, she worked for over 10 years as a manager for several Jim's restaurants in Texas. During this time, she and her husband, Larry Shepherd became amazing foster parents to many foster children. Her life brought so many memories and stories that anyone who listened would be amazed as well as entertained.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Shepherd; mother, Mildred Lubic Cymbalak and father, John Cymbalak; two brothers Nick and John Cymbalak; sister, Audrey Rodriguez; and son, David Lee Harvey. She leaves behind three sisters: Janice Black of Fort Myers, Fl; Mildred Jackson of Aiken, SC; and Marcie Jean of Melbourne, Fl; three sons: James Harvey of Manchaca, TX; Scott Harvey of New Braunfels, TX; and Christopher Shepherd of McQueeney, TX; three daughter-in-laws: Samantha Shepherd, Christine Harvey, and Alberta Harvey, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and foster children.

In lieu of a visitation and service, Mary requested everyone to go play a game bingo in her honor.
