Mary Jane Garcia, age 56, entered into rest on Saturday, February 27, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born May 12, 1964, Mary Jane was the daughter of Eloy and Sylvia Flores Garcia. She was the oldest of four children. Siblings included Andrea Garcia, Eloy (Sonny) Garcia, and Gustavo (Gus)( Garcia. Early on, Mary Jane was a nanny/babysitter/caregiver to numerous children throughout the community. Her kids were treated with surprises, creative arts, parties, and more. Later, she began her 30-year career with the Brackett Independent School District, where she was affectionately referred to as "Miss Mary Jane". It was here she cared for all the students that came her way. Giving each love, attention, and admiration for each student's successes big or small. To this day, Miss Mary Jane sees her students and will always remember each with a sweet story and words of encouragement. It was in the hallways students and staff were either met with a smile, joke, or a raised eyebrow, each given with love. During her tenure with the school district, she was a teacher's aide, bus driver, chaperone, cheer sponsor, Tiger band enthusiast, and most importantly, a Tiger Fan Always the caretaker, Mary Jane took time to care for her students, whether it be through support via fundraisers, sideline cheering and supporting, and even going as far as learning the students' best way of learning and applying that to help the student. An avid member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, she was involved with CCD, youth groups, prayer groups, and choirs. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her father, Eloy H. Garcia; her mother, Maria Sylvia F. Garcia; her favorite sister, Andrea F. Garcia. Left to cherish her memory is her favorite brother, Eloy (Sonny) F. Garcia; and other favorite brother, Gustavo F. (Gus) Garcia (Michael Gallacher). Recitation of the Holy Rosary/visitation will be Thursday, March 18 at 7 p.m. in the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Brackettville, Texas. Mass of Christian burial is set for Friday, March 19, 2021, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Brackettville, Texas with the Rev. James Ikeatuegwu officiating. Pall Bearers are Paula Samaniego, Julia C. Terrazas, Mary Payne, Elida Estrada, Gracie Mata and Leticia H. Navarro; Honorary Pall bearer is Sarah A. Escobedo. Interment will follow at the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery, nestled between her mother, father, and sister. The family gratefully acknowledges the outo\pouring of love and support from the entire community, family, and friends.
