Maria Guadalupe Torres, of Del Rio, Texas, a beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, loving sister, and dear aunt, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and lifelong friend, Olivia Garcia.
Born on August 4, 1940, in Cristales, Mexico, Maria Guadalupe lived a life defined by love, kindness, faith, and an unwavering devotion to those around her. She had a beautiful smile, a generous heart, and a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
Maria Guadalupe found her greatest joy in the simple yet meaningful moments of life. She loved to cook, sew, and create beautiful quilts for those she held dear. Each quilt was more than a handmade gift; it was a reflection of her love, patience, and the care she poured into everything she did. Her kitchen was a place where meals were prepared with love, and there was always room for one more person at her table.
Her home was much more than a gathering place. It was a sanctuary of warmth, comfort, and belonging, where family, friends, and neighbors were always welcomed with open arms. She delighted in the company of others, whether sharing a home-cooked meal, enjoying a heartfelt conversation, or sitting outside in the rocking chairs with a cup of tea or coffee. Those peaceful afternoons, filled with friendship and the simple joy of being together, were among the moments she treasured most.
Faith was an important part of Maria Guadalupe's life. Raised in the Catholic faith, she carried a beautiful spirit of openness and acceptance toward people of all beliefs. She enjoyed attending church and often accompanied friends to their places of worship, believing wholeheartedly that God's presence could be found wherever people gathered in faith and love. Some of her most cherished moments were spent welcoming church friends into her home to read and share the Bible together. Her faith was not only something she believed in, but something she lived through her kindness, generosity, and compassion for others.
Above all, Maria Guadalupe's greatest love was her family. She adored her two sons, and the love she poured into raising them only grew as her family expanded. Having raised boys, she found a special joy in welcoming her daughters-in-law into her heart and family, loving and spoiling them as though they were her own daughters. When her granddaughters came along, she delighted in the opportunity to shower them with affection and a little extra spoiling. Her grandsons were equally cherished, each holding a special place in her heart. To her, being a grandmother was another beautiful way to share the boundless love she had always given so freely. Her love for her sons lived on in the tenderness, pride, and devotion she showed each of her grandchildren.
Maria Guadalupe had a special way of bringing people together and making each person feel that they belonged. No one was ever a stranger for long in her presence. Through a warm meal, a thoughtful gesture, a welcoming embrace, or simply her beautiful smile, she made it her mission to ensure that those around her felt included, comforted, and loved.
Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of sixty years, Roberto C. Torres Jr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love and treasured memories.
She is also survived by her loving sons, Roberto C. Torres III and his wife, Aracely Torres, of Del Rio, Texas, and Richard Torres and his wife, Yesenia Torres, of Corpus Christi, Texas; her beloved grandsons, Carlos A. Torres, Roberto A. Torres, and Julian Torres; and her cherished granddaughters, Tatiana A. Torres and Lisette Torres.
Maria Guadalupe was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ignacio Robles and Cesaria Escalante, and her brother, Ubaldo Robles.
She is also survived by her brothers, Jose Angel Robles, Raul Robles and his wife, Amelia Robles, of Fort Worth, Texas; Ramiro Robles; Sergio Robles and his wife, Rita Robles, of Ciudad Acuña, Mexico; and Ruben Robles and his wife, Araceli Robles, of Del Rio, Texas.
