Maria Guadalupe (Lupe) Melendez was born in Cuidad Acuña, Coahuila on April 27th, 1942. She was called home on February 8th, 2024. Maria Guadalupe was the daughter of Lino Reyes and Sofia Trevino. She is proceeded in death by her husband Gumersindo Melendez Vazquez, brothers Arnulfo Reyes, Ramon Reyes, sisters Virginia Gonzales, Antonia Perez, and Maria del Refugio. She is survived by her sister Isabel Hernandez.

Maria Guadalupe met her lifelong partner, Gumercindo, in 1964 while enjoying music at the Macarena night club in Cuidad Acuña. His musical talents swept her off her feet. They shared 59 years of marriage before his passing. They raised 4 children, Jose Antonio Ovalle, Blas Arturo Melendez, Veronica Sofia Acosta, and Gume Melendez. Lupe was an amazing grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Lupe was a force to be reckoned with, a woman of character with a loving heart. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with loved ones. One of her favorite things to do was playing Loteria with family. She was famous for her funny Loteria riddles. Some of Maria Guadalupe's past times included attending Bingo and playing at the casino. She also loved spoiling her children and grandkids with her delicious Tamales. She made sure they all felt her love in her own way. Without hesitation, she was there for everyone she loved. As a grandma, she stepped in to care for all her grandkids as needed. She was our truth-teller but also our comfort and friend. We know she will forever be watching over us, praying for us like always, and once again enjoying the beautiful sound of Gume's guitar playing for her. May we one day be reunited in heaven.
