Margarito Medellin Gonzales was born in Karnes City, Texas on March 22, 1935. He passed away from COVID -19 on July 25, 2020. Our father was a loving and devoted husband. He was married to our generous and beautiful mother for over 50 years. They were inseparable from working together to attending bingo nights.
They had 4 sons and one daughter. Our father loved us unconditionally and was an example of humbleness. Dad was a survivor. He had suffered a fall that broke many bones in both legs. He struggled with diabetes, dialysis, concussion that caused a bleed that he rehabbed from, heart attack and a stroke. He did not know how to quit.
He worked his way from Karnes City as a migrant worker to business owner. He proceeded to becoming a manager at an International fabrication shop for Beck Steel. This is what brought him to Del Rio, Tx. He only knew how to succeed and better himself. He was an inspiration to us all.
He was a hero and a true friend to so many. Our father's generosity was never forgotten in our neighborhood in Lubbock, Texas. People never forgot him making bags of fruit and candy for the children in the neighborhood. It does not seem like much but he touched many lives. He will remembered with so much love, compassion and generosity.
He was 85 years old living in Del Rio, TX. My Father was preceded in death by his wife Erlinda M Gonzales, his Father Leonardo Gonzales Sr., his Mother Jesusa M Gonzales and brothers Jose "Lupe" M Gonzales, Leonardo M Gonzales Jr. Omero Gonzales, and Sisters Gloria Hernandez and Sister Sara Gonzales.
Survived by Brother Miguel M Gonzales and wife Maria M Gonzales; His children; David Gonzales
& wife Irene, Margarito Gonzales Jr & wife Marian, Juan Gonzales & wife Linda, Maribel Calderon & husband Billy, Jose Gonzales & wife Natasha. 28 Grandchildren, 33 Great Grandchildren And one on the way.
From all of us we would like to thank our sister, Maribel. You helped care for our Mother and then took full responsibility for our father's care. You are greatly appreciated for all you and Billy did for our Dad.
Our father is home with our loving mother looking down at us, and we were blessed to have had a respectful, powerful and loving relationship with you. You will be eternally missed by us and all those you have touched.
God help us and guide us through these times.
