Obituary

Manuel Castorena, 82, of Bastrop Texas, passed away on 10/9/2024. Manuel was born on March 13, 1942, to Adelina Becerra and Manuel Castorena, Sr. in Del Rio, Texas. After Manuel graduated from Del Rio High School in 1961, he, then joined the United States Army in 1962. In 1972, Manuel first met, Angela Calderon on a bus in route to Del Rio, Texas. Both were traveling from different destinations back to their hometown. Manuel and Angela Castorena were married for 53 years.

After working for the State of Texas, Department of Human Services for 30 years, Manuel retired and spent his time working on yard and home projects. However, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and The University of Texas football teams was his greatest excitement. Manuel's daughters will remember his loving guidance; however, one advice will ways stand out... " Don't accept any wooded nickels".

Manuel Castorena was predeceased by his parents: Adelina and Manual Castorena, Sr., Son, Richard Castorena, Brothers: Raul and Romelia Castorena, and Ernesto and Yolanda Castorena, and sister, Josie and Roy Acevedo.

He is survived by his wife: Angela Castorena, Son: Mark and Melissa Castorena, and daughters: Renee Rocha, Rosalie Rocha and Erma Castorena; Grandsons and Granddaughters are Dominic Castorena, Ricky Castorena, Zoe Castorena, Kelsey Bolanos, Jahvon Reed, Kayla Galvan; Great-Great grandson and granddaughters are Isiah Castorena, Layla Reed, Amado Bolanos. He is also survived his sister: Rosario and Ruben Martinez, and brothers: Carlos Castorena, Luis Alberto Soliz, sister-in-law, Linda Flores, including his nieces and nephews.

The viewing will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Wednesday, Octocber 16, 2024 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. The rosary will be held at 7:00pm. Church services will be held at St. Joseph Church on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 10:00am. Services will conclude immediately after mass.
