Louis Robert Zylka, age 62, of Del Rio, Texas, passed away with his family at his side at the Downtown Baptist Hospital on March 8, 2025.
On March 29, 2025, a memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 11:00 am in Del Rio, Texas. The service will be offered by Father Jose Manuel Otaolaurruchi. Arrangements are being made by Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.
Louis was born in Roswell, NM, to Louis F. Zylka and Mary Ann F. (Matura) Zylka on July 15, 1962.
Louis is a graduate of Connellsville Area High School in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, and of Westmoreland County Community College in Youngwood, Pennsylvania.
He lived in Del Rio, Texas, and worked for the Maquiladoras Industry in Mexico for three decades. Afterward, Louis operated his own self-employed company called The Helping Hand, where he offered contracted work such as remodeling rooms, creating sheds and applying new tiles.
Louis married Maria Dolores (Lolis) Rios on December 15, 1985, and raised their child Louis Joseph Zylka, who was born on February 28, 1994.
Louis was known for his intelligence and educated mind as an engineer. His skills were shown through his projects as an elegant woodworker and designer.
Aside from his career, Louis was also passionate about music. He was highly talented at singing and playing the guitar, and he loved classic rock and folk music.
Louis is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, his former wife, his sister Mary Lou (Zylka) Shick and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The inurnment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
