Lily Schwandner, age 95, was born in Cleburne , Texas to Ellis Emily Coopwood Howard and Dr. Walter Raymond Howard. Lily attended Cleburne schools until graduation in 1932. She furthered her education at SWTCC in San Marcos , Texas , majoring in education. She also attended business school in Cleburne , and SWTJC in Uvalde , Texas . She was a teacher for a number of years at the River School on the West Nueces in Kinney County . She also ranched along the West Nueces in Kinney County for many years. In the mid-seventies she moved from her ranch into Brackettville , Texas where she performed the duties of Deputy County and District Clerk at the Kinney County Courthouse for 15 years. Lily was a member of Beta Sigma for 25 years, holding all offices at different times over the years. She was an active member of PTA during her children"�s school years. Lily was preceded in death by her older sister Gladys Josephine Westphal, younger brother William Raymond Howard, grandson James Carl Honeycutt, and grandson Wesley Risinger. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Carl W. Schwandner and his wife Courtenay and their sons, Mike, Mark, and Henry Schwandner, and Will Risinger. Her daughter, Emily Honeycutt and her sons, Sam Pat, Bill Tom, and Joe Don Ferguson. Lily was also blessed with 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Dr. Musquiz for his kind and loving care throughout these past years, Dr Lindsey and Dr. Manning for their care during her last days. The nurses on Station 2 and the respiratory therapists were all so caring and thoughtful. Visitation will be Monday, November 9, 2009 from 1:00 PM till 6:00 PM at Brackettville Sunset Funeral Home, 302 E. Spring St. in Brackettville, Texas. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Christ in Bracketville. Graveside services will follow at the Kinney County Cemetery. There will be a noon meal at the Fellowship Hall, Church of Christ for all of Lily"�s friends and relatives. Left with the honor of serving as pallbearers for Lily are: Clinton Brown, Pat Foster, Richard Terrazas, Zack Davis, Tony Frerich, and H.C. Hunt of Brackettville , Texas . Honorary pallbearers are: Marcus �"Sonny"� Tidwell, Ray Smallwood, Clay Hunt, Orville Frerich, and Camillo Cruz of Brackettville , Texas .
