Libertad C. Curiel "Libe" was a beloved grandmother, mother, sister, friend and wife for her beautiful 81 years of life. She passed away peacefully Friday evening, December 17, 2021. Libe was born on March 15, 1940, a daughter of the late Gamaliel Cerda and Gumercinda De la Paz. She belonged to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was a talented seamstress, amazing cook, & homemaker. Left to cherish in her memory is her husband of 58 years Nicolas V. Curiel, children Marisol (Alberto Perez), Juan Jose (Anita Curiel), Magdalena (Rodrigo Hernandez), Araceli, Mary Lou (Johnny Ortiz), 12 grandchildren: Daniel Alejandro (Rosalind), Adriana Araceli (Andrew Lopez) Perez; Juan Jose Jr. (Daniela), Jose Angel (Marina), Gilbert Curiel; Briana Ysabel (Adrian Luna), Rodrigo Jr. (Angela), Alfredo Nicholas Hernandez; Mackenzie Nicole, Paul Patrick Shannon Jr.; Jonathan Baldemar, Michael Anthony Ortiz, 8 great-grandchildren: Ashlyn & Amina Lopez; Augustine & Angel Curiel; Adrian Jr. & Jason Luna, Rodrigo III & Ariella Hernandez, sisters Gloria Cerda & Eva Torres, numerous cousins, nieces & nephews. God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered, "Come to me". With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest, god broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best. -Unknown We love you Grandma Libe, thank you for showing us the meaning of family, prayer, unity, and unconditional love. Your memories will last in us forever, your presence will truly be missed! Visitation will be held Monday, December 20, 2021, 4:00pm-7:00pm at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021, 3:00pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Gentlemen with the honor of pallbearers: Daniel, Juan Jr., Rodrigo Jr., Alfredo, Jose, Gilbert, Paul Jr. and Adrian. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
