Leonel G.
Frausto
Nov 8, 1950 — Oct 10, 2024
SP4 Leonel G. Frausto was a beloved pillar of our family—a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a cherished great-grandfather. Born and raised in Del Rio, Texas, Leonel answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Army at the age of 20. Following a proud family tradition of military service, he was inspired by his two older brothers, who also bravely served during the Vietnam Era.
Leonel's life was filled with love and dedication, especially toward his wife of 53 years and five children—four daughters and one son—with whom he shared his passion for fishing. Leonel was the best grandfather, always ready to join in on the fun, whether it was playing soccer, sliding down the playground slide, or spending time at the lake. He was the biggest supporter of his grandchildren's love for sports. Leonel never missed a game, always there cheering them on. His unwavering support and joyful spirit made him not just a grandfather, but his grandchildren's greatest fan and role model.
His kindness extended beyond his family, as he spent many years working for Weiner News as a distributor, making countless connections in the local community where he was fondly remembered as "The Magazine Man".
Leonel is preceded in death by his parents, Elida G. Frausto and Nolberto Frausto Sr.; his brother, Nolberto Frausto Jr., his nephew, Nolberto Frausto III; and his great grandchild Oracion Milagro Terrazas.
Survived by his loving wife Elena C Frausto, daughters Catherine & husband Robert Esquivel, Carolyn Hernandez, Christina & husband Juan Segovia, Celena & husband Pablo Quepons, son Lionel & wife Cindy Frausto. Grandchildren, Estevan Hernadez, Nathaniel Hernandez, Natalia Terrazas, Pablo Quepons, Patrick Frausto, Nayeli Esquivel, Kariyana Segovia, Arturo Quepons, Jacob Segovia, Mireya Esquivel, Sofia Quepons, Nicholas Segovia, Ean Frausto, Axl Frausto, Leo Frausto. Great grandchildren Emmanuel Terrazas. Brothers Alfredo (Vernie) Frausto, Robert (Elsa) Frausto, Sisters Leticia Frausto, Gloria (Eloy) Gloria, and numerous extended family.
His legacy lives on through the many memories he created. He will forever be missed but never forgotten.
