Larry Douglas Rex, 62, of Brackettville, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026. He was born in Houston, Texas, on October 16, 1963.
Larry was a proud Navy veteran, a skilled electrician, and truly a jack of all trades. There was very little he couldn't build, repair, or figure out. He spent much of his life working with his hands and using his talents in construction, always willing to tackle a project and find a way to get the job done, especially for those he loved.
Larry will be remembered most for the memories he created, his unique sense of humor (especially his contagious laugh), his hardworking spirit, and the love he had for his family. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Janine DeHoyos, son-in-law, Israel DeHoyos, and his one and only granddaughter, Rayna Joy DeHoyos, who brought immense joy to his life.
He is also survived by his three brothers, Richard Rex Jr., Charles Rex, and David Rex, and his father, Russell Williams, along with extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Larry's passing leaves a space that can never be filled, but his life, his stories, his laughter, and the things he built with his own two hands will continue to live on through the people who loved him.
Though our hearts are broken by his absence, we find comfort knowing that his earthly struggles are over and that he is now at peace, reunited with his mother, Joyce June Williams, in heaven. This is not goodbye, but see you later. Until we meet again, Larry will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever a part of the family he loved so dearly.
Final Resting Place
Larry's Celebration of Life was held in May 2026. His ashes will be laid to rest in a private burial service on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Kinney County Cemetery in Brackettville, Texas.
Family and friends are welcome to join us as we honor Larry, lay him to rest, and say one final “see you later.”
