Julio Cesar Liceaga (Arizpe), age 82 years, passed away peacefully, Wednesday the 2nd of November, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Julio was a life-long resident of Joliet, IL and for the past three years of Lubbock, TX. He was a former parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Joliet, IL.

Julio Cesar was born on September 2nd, 1940 in San Carlos Municipio de Jimenez, Coahuila, MX to Rafael Liceaga Alonzo and Maria Aurora Arizpe (both deceased). In infancy the family moved to Ciudad Acuna Coahuila, Mexico where he married Maria Luisa De La Rosa (deceased) on December 14th, 1962. Their first five children were born in Del Rio, TX and later their three youngest children in Joliet, IL.

Julio Cesar was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was best known as "Welo" to his beloved grandchildren; whom he lovingly doted on. After retirement, Dad loved to go and support his grandkids' sporting events. He was an avid baseball fan of his beloved Chicago Cubs. Dad loved baseball caps and he had a grand collection of them and many had been given to him by his grandchildren of the schools they attended. Music was a big part of his life. Trio music was his favorite genre.

Survived by his loving children, seven daughters, Edna (Hugo) Vargas, Linda Liceaga, Sandra (Horacio) Vargas, Romelia Liceaga, Maria (Adrian) Contreras, Cynthia Liceaga Rose (fiancé Angelo Marino), Patricia (Elias) Bibian and one son, Julio Cesar (Maribel) Liceaga Jr; his beloved 21 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; his brother Rafael (Juanita), Maria Del Carmen (deceased), Blanca Estella (Gustavo), Gilberto (deceased), Cecilia, Martha Elizabeth and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Julio Cesar Liceaga will be held Monday, November 7th, 2022 from 3:00PM to 6:00PM at the Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 2020 N. Bedell Ave., Del Rio, TX 78840.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 510 Wernett St. Del Rio, TX 78840 at 10:00AM.

Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
