In Loving Memory of Juan Vargas, Jr.

Juan Vargas, Jr. entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 16, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on March 17, 1942, to Juan Vargas, Sr. and Sertlida Rodriguez Vargas, Juan lived a life of faith, humble service, and deep love for his family and community.

Juan was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Gloria Benavides, Abel Vargas, and Chon Vargas; and his unborn son, Juan Vargas III, whom he now rejoices with in the presence of the Lord.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Christina Vargas, with whom he shared a fairy tale of love, faith and devotion for 56 years. His memory will be cherished by his loving children, Jesus M. Vargas and Monica M. Vargas, who will forever remember his gentle spirit, steadfast guidance, and unconditional love. Juan is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and his faithful companion, Tiny Lilly, whose companionship brought him great comfort and joy.

Juan dedicated his life to serving others unselfishly. He was employed by Mission Valley for 15 years, Seguin Independent School District for 7 years, and Tree of Life Church for 5 years. Even after retiring, Juan continued serving others by caring for their yards throughout the community. To him, it was more than work, it was another opportunity to serve others, build friendships, and brighten someone's day. He never met a stranger, and his warm smile, generous heart, and willingness to help anyone in need left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Juan enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, especially the San Antonio Spurs, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Cowboys. More than any hobby or pastime, however, his greatest passion was his relationship with Jesus Christ. Through quiet acts of kindness, humility, generosity, and compassion, Juan faithfully reflected Christ's love to his family, friends, neighbors, and everyone he encountered.

While his family grieves the loss of his earthly presence, they find comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Juan's life stands as a testament to faith, devotion, hard work, and unconditional love.

Juan has heard the words every faithful servant longs to receive from our Savior:

"Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord."

May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ fill the hearts of his beloved wife, Christina and their children, Jesse & Monica Vargas.
