Joyce Burell Evans entered into her eternal rest on January 5, 2020, at the age of 78.
A long-time resident of New Braunfels, Texas, Joyce was born in Knippa, on November 7, 1941. She was the middle child with an older brother, Marcus Burell and younger brother, Delton Burell, whom she has joined in eternal rest. She was born to the late Hubert and Ella Burell.
On September 26, 1970, Joyce married Ron Evans. They were married in San Antonio, Texas, and blessed with three daughters. Ron and Joyce celebrated 49 years together before his passing on November 5, 2019.
Joyce took great pride in starting Trinity Lutheran Church in Uvalde, Texas, with her family. She led a life of service working as a nurse in several hospitals and even served as a school nurse when the family was stationed in Germany. She was an Oma like no other. Making blankets for each grandchild when they were born, attending events to cheer them on as they grew, making milkshakes before dentist appointments, and most importantly, cutting out articles to ensure her daughters were aware of dangers or health risks because of heavy backpacks, tattoos, titanium in deodorant, or using plastic, especially in the microwave! Joyce will always be remembered for the personalized lullabies she created and sang for each grandchild. She was fashionable and used her artistic abilities to design Wurstfest pins. Her dedication to causes was second to none. She was an active member of the German American Society and Grace Lutheran Church in San Marcos, Texas. She will be terribly missed.
Joyce is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kim and Alan Silva, daughter and son-in-law Heather and Mark Toye, daughter and son-in-law Nicole and Johnny Garcia; grandchildren Mason, Evan, and Brittney Blankenship, Teal and John Albert; Brandt, Sadie, Tucker, and Makensie Addington; Annika, Soren, and Corry Garcia; great-grandchildren Kimber and Callen Albert and Presley Addington.
