Jose Salinas Tarin passed away peacefully at the age of 73, on May 25, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones at Baptist Hospital downtown San Antonio, Texas.
On February 27, 1953, Jose was born to the late Jesus Robles Tarin and Albertina Salinas Tarin in O'Donnell, Texas. He was the husband to Maria del Refugio Mendez Faustino. They were married on July 5, 2014. Together they shared 12 years of marriage. During his life, he served in the United States Army for 4 years. He was employed by Wal-Mart in Odessa, Texas as a building custodian. He enjoyed making people laugh with his corny jokes and fishing whenever he had a chance.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jesus Robles Tarin and Albertina Salinas Tarin. His sisters Rebecca T. and brother-in-law Gilbert Garcia, Maria Antonia T. and brother-in-law Jose Cordero, Esther Tarin Martinez, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Mr. Jose Salinas Tarin is survived by his spouse Maria; Sons Rene Westfall, Jose Jr., Peter, and Geronimo; Daughters Amor and Dora; Grandchildren Angel and Iroceni Tarin, Montez and Destiny Ross, Kyda and Eros Tarin, Gabriel, Haley, Anabella Tarin, Evan Pepperdine and Peter Jr. Brothers, Jesus Tarin Jr. and wife Paz, Pablo Tarin and wife Norma. Sisters Ramona Vick and husband Michael, brother-in-law Raymundo Martinez, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM; followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 2020 N. Bedell Ave., Del Rio, Texas. Funeral Military Honors will be rendered by The United States Army Honor Guard and The American Legion Post #595
